Ejaculatory Impotence
The factors that contribute to impotence can be classified as organic, psychogenic, or mixed. Ejaculatory impotence from a physical cause is called organic or physical erectile dysfunction. Organic ejaculatory impotence is characterized by a gradual onset that is not related to specific situations. In these cases, nocturnal and early morning erections are lost and libido is usually normal. It can be related to inflammatory conditions, such as prostatitis, surgical procedures, such as prostatectomy, and spinal cord injuries, which may damage nerve conduction.
Vascular diseases such as hypertension and hyperlipidemia, neurologic conditions such as Parkinson's disease, endocrine disorders such as hyperprolactinemia, and often medications can lead to ejaculatory impotence . Drugs such as antihypertensives, diuretics, and antidepressants often cause erectile dysfunctions. Approximately 25% of erectile failure seen in clinic patients is caused by medication.
